After an internet backlash over a photo of a wedding guest proposing to his partner in front of the bridal party, the woman on the end of the proposal has clarified that the bride, her sister, was in fact in on the whole thing.
The online community was buzzing when a photo went viral of a man on bended knee proposing to his partner in front of a smiling groom, and what appeared to be an uncomfortable-looking bride.
Many netizens were quick to criticise the apparently overzealous guest, though the criticism went so far that the woman who received the proposal felt she had to come out and explain.
She told reporters that it was in fact her sister’s idea, saying:
“My fiancé told her he didn’t want to ruin their day and she insisted it would only make it better. The groom of the wedding actually held my engagement ring the entire trip! Everyone in the Reddit picture knew the proposal was going to happen except for me.”
The story perhaps illustrates how it is always a good idea not to jump to conclusions without knowing the full facts, even if it was one of those more unusual wedding photos. Liverpool certainly is a place known for its close family bonds, so who’s not to say that there will not be a proposal such as this more locally?
For this close-knit family though, they will surely want to get away from the limelight and get on with planning the next magical wedding day.
