A woman whose serious health issues led to a wedding taking place at her hospital bedside has managed to make a remarkable recovery, allowing her to enjoy the marriage of her and her fiancé of 20 years.
It was feared that Mandy Lloyd, from Derbyshire, would not make it after she began to bleed internally, so her family congregated to witness her bedside wedding to her doting partner Paul Curran.
Not long after the hasty ceremony, Mandy began to show signs of recovery and only a few short weeks after this she was able to be discharged, to the delight her new husband Paul
Mandy believes that the ceremony, witnessed by staff nurses and performed by the hospital chaplain, helped her make an amazing recovery:
“It seems the deathbed wedding saved my life. At the time I was so close to dying, when Paul suggested we get married in hospital, I agreed straightaway and the wedding was wonderful.”
The elation that couples feel on that special day cannot be any more demonstrated than in this uplifting tale, and a professional wedding photographer from North West England knows better than most what it means to those involved.
Although many people would perhaps not want their wedding to be conducted in a hospital under such sad circumstances, it surely will be a day that Mandy and Paul will look back upon with the fondest of memories, and shows that love really can cure anything.
