Pop singer Ed Sheeran stunned an Australian couple by singing the first song at their wedding, after a local radio station had helped organise the pair’s special day.
The happy couple, Kya and Matt, had chosen one of Ed’s songs as the tune they were to have their first dance to, and were delighted when the man himself turned up to perform a live rendition.
Sheeran, whose hits include ‘Thinking out loud’ and ‘Sing’, is known in the music business as one of the nice guys, and he certainly lived up that billing by performing to a surprised – and delighted – wedding party.
This amazing gesture by the star points to a more serious concern for those about to be wed – namely, what song should be used when partners take those first loving steps as a married couple?
Certainly, if both bride and groom have a similar tastes then the choice may be easy, but if not, it can be difficult to decide on the right piece of music that represents both individuals.
It’s often tempting to go for a piece of music by an artist that one, or both, enjoy, though as everyone knows music can serve as a reminder of happy or important times in a relationship, and often these moments come from a surprising artist.
There are no set of rules governing how to choose the song that will accompany the first dance, though a top wedding photographer from Liverpool or the surrounding region will certainly be attuned to the importance of this moment.
