Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and his partner Daisy Evans certainly had the guests in stitches at their wedding reception, as TV funny man Jimmy Carr performed a stand-up routine to a reportedly delighted audience.
Carr was a guest at the couple’s wedding, although that did not stop him from grabbing the microphone and cracking a few jokes. Evans, a former member of S Club Juniors, even posted pictures of the comedian in full swing onto her Instagram page.
The idea of having a celebrity stand-up at your wedding is not one that many people will have to deal with, with most happy couples tending to focus on essential things such as hiring a professional wedding photographer. Manchester, however, is awash with comedians of various renown, so perhaps we will see a local funny man or woman performing at a wedding here soon.
For the happy couple, the snaps taken at the reception certainly showed them and their guests having a great time, which is all that a newly married pair can ask for on their special day.
It may also give food for thought for those planning their nuptials. Generally a set routine is followed during a wedding, with speeches expected from the same individuals. However, for those who perhaps want their wedding to be more entertaining, there is always the option of utilising the skills of the guests that are in attendance.
Carr, on the other hand, will likely return to his live performances and TV specials after this more unusual gig.
