Online music streaming service Spotify has recently revealed the most requested songs that couples choose for their wedding, and in particular what songs they want for their first dance.
This follows a recent list of favourite songs for the big day as published by stalwart music magazine NME.
The online music site searched over 400,000 wedding themed playlists to find out which tunes couples went for, with British star Ed Sheeran topping everybody else. It was the red headed balladeer’s song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ that was number one for the first dance song for couples on their special day.
Etta James’ haunting ‘At Last’ was placed at number two, just ahead of the king of rock and roll Elvis Presley with ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ at number three.
The first dance is a very special moment for a couple during their happy day and they should make sure that this is recorded by a professional wedding photographer. Liverpool is certainly noted for its successful bands over the years and for anyone wondering why The Beatles are not mentioned, it’s because Spotify has not acquired the rights to stream the band’s catalogue of music.
Ed Sheeran actually made another appearance in the top ten, coming in at number five with ‘Tenerife Sea’ behind San Francisco’s Train, who took the number four spot with their 2009 hit ‘Marry Me’. Bringing up the rear were Ray LaMontagne, Bright Eyes, Adele, Michael Bublé and Jason Mraz.
