A couple from Scarborough can possibly lay claim to being the victims of the ultimate photo bomb after a Vulcan XH558 was photographed in the background of their wedding photos.
The jet bomber was engaging in what may turn out to be its last flights in honour of Armed Forces Day, with it being snapped behind happy couple Emily and Jonny Smith.
Whilst most brides would be a little upset at being overshadowed by such a display, Mrs Smith was philosophical about it, saying:
“I’m pleased to say the plane flew over as my bridesmaids walked down the aisle. It disappeared and then came back as I stepped on to the altar, so I did get some of the attention. Everybody was laughing at what we were seeing. It flew right through Scarborough Bay, it was pretty spectacular.”
Whilst it would certainly be an unusual sight, the Vulcan was likely to have given the couple some unusual wedding photos. Manchester itself can boast many a veteran who has fought for the United Kingdom, so most people in the city would surely have loved to have had this vintage plane in the background to their own wedding celebrations.
Town Planner Mr Smith was certainly enthralled with the spectacle, and when he spoke to local media he was quick to point out how spectacular the unexpected show was. Couples today often want their special day to be unique and the Vulcan certainly gave the guests something to talk about whilst enjoying the special occasion.
